A Long Time Coming

Every sacrifice was WORTH IT.” Ms. K. Orallo, a registered nurse in the Philippines and DMIPLIVS client, looks back on the challenges she and her husband Mr. F faced when they applied for permanent residency in Canada. She is one of the many Filipinos whose dream was to settle and live abroad. “We decided to apply for Canada because it will be a fulfillment of our lifelong dream,” she says.

When Ms. K and her husband decided to pursue an immigrant application in 2012, she sought the advice of a good friend who was already a permanent resident in Canada. “She recommended DMIPLIVS to us and said that their service and assistance is really good,” K relates.

Just as any persistent dreamer, K put in a lot of time and effort in their application. “Good thing DMIPLIVS helped us a lot in the processing. Our agent made everything convenient and easier for us to comply with the numerous requirements.”

However, due to circumstances beyond their control, K’s application had to wait a little longer. “By the time our documents were complete, Canada decided to stop the intake of immigrants to their country for the meantime,” she recalls. “We then reapplied in 2013, but unfortunately, the intake capacity was already reached. We got capped out.”

Despite what had happened, the couple was not discouraged. DMIPLIVS backed them up to take another chance and reapplied for permanent residency in 2014. What seemed to be a series of disappointments in the recent years became a way to prepare for their eventual migration.

“We tried our luck again in 2014 and got our visa approved in early 2015. It was surreal because we have been praying hard for this for the longest time. We put in a lot of effort, time, and money for this. But upon knowing our visa was approved, it made every sacrifice WORTH IT. I guess third time is really a charm,” she happily says.

K and F have been Permanent Residents in Canada since August 2015. She is now working in the Canadian health field and currently processing her license as a practical nurse (LPN) and a registered nurse.

Looking back, K shares her experience as a newly-landed immigrant, “Transferring to another country was really hard at first. We had to adjust to their culture, norms, rules, transportation, language, and most especially the weather. It was really challenging. The seminars, programs, and guidelines initiated by the Canadian immigration office helped us a lot to adjust.”

She also says having friends in a foreign land helped her and her husband get used to their new home. “Having a lot of friends in a particular city is also a big factor in choosing where you should reside. They will really help you with their suggestions and advices. They will take you to different places, orient you with the necessary information, help you cope with homesickness. I don’t have relatives here so I consider my friends here in Canada as my family.”

After two years as a permanent resident, K cannot help but be thankful. “Living in Canada made all my dreams come true. I believe it will also be the key in achieving all my goals in life. It was not everything I exactly imagined it to be, but it was more than that. I will always be grateful that I was given the opportunity to be here.”

She pensively adds, “The process of our application was really tough, to be honest. But knowing DMIPLIVS was there to assist, guide, and help us in every step, it made everything really smooth and easy. This company can really be trusted.”
