Second Express Entry Draw for August Reduces CRS Score to 433
Just a week after the last Express Entry draw, Canada lowers the cut-off threshold of the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) to 433 points and issues more Invitations to Apply (ITA) for potential immigrants on August 9. This most recent draw held by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) issued ITAs to 2,991 candidates in the Express Entry pool.
Changes to the CRS were introduced in June that gave additional points to those who have a sibling in Canada and speak the French language. With these changes and the lower cut-off threshold, more applicants for permanent residence have an opportunity to obtain an ITA.
After the changes in the CRS, three Express Entry draws had cut-off thresholds in the 440s. However, the decrease in the threshold for this draw may have been due to the shorter time gap between the August 2 and August 9 draws. A total of 60, 742 ITAs have been issued so far for 2017.
