Saskatchewan Announces New In-Demand List
The province of Saskatchewan released its new In-Demand Occupations list last July 29, 2017 with 43 occupations that include those in IT, engineering, marketing, medicine, and skilled trades among others. The expanded list covers both of its immigration categories Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program (SINP) International Skilled Worker – Express Entry and SINP International Skilled Worker – Occupations In-Demand.
Almost half of the occupations on the list require professional licensure for the application to be processed. The province’s licensure organizations clarified, however, that applicants may complete the licensure process from outside Canada. Majority of the license processing times take up to approximately one (1) year, which gives applicants ample time to pursue their licensure prior to the province’s next intake.
For the occupations that do not require licensure, an applicant’s work experience may make them eligible to apply to the SINP. Successful applicants may obtain additional 600 points under the Express Entry Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS).
